Context
-------
The project aims to follow modern best practices for building scalable, maintainable, and portable web applications. The 12-Factor App methodology provides a set of principles for designing software-as-a-service apps that are suitable for deployment on cloud platforms.

Decision
--------
All pull requests and feature requests must respect and adhere to all of the `12-Factor App methodology <https://github.com/smarter-sh/smarter/blob/main/docs/12-FACTOR.md>`__.

Alternatives Considered
-----------------------
- Allowing exceptions to the 12-Factor principles on a case-by-case basis.
- Following only a subset of the 12-Factor principles.

Consequences
------------
- **Positive:**
  - Ensures consistency and best practices across the codebase.
  - Improves portability, scalability, and maintainability.
  - Simplifies deployment and operational processes.
- **Negative:**
  - May require additional effort to refactor or adapt features to comply with all principles.
  - Limits flexibility in cases where a principle may not align perfectly with a specific use case.
