Source code for smarter.apps.mcpserver.protocol.operations_tools
"""
The base class of the Smarter Operations MCP server's tools.
The Smarter Operations MCP server (:mod:`smarter.apps.mcpserver.protocol.operations_server`) gives
the platform's staff, and their AI agents, e.g. Claude Code, what they need to answer help desk
questions: the pod logs, the platform's health, and the state of a user's account. Its tools read
data that is not public, so each :class:`SmarterOperationsTool`:
- runs for a staff user, whose api key the server verified,
- takes a required ``ticket`` argument, the help desk ticket or reason for the call,
- records every call in :class:`~smarter.apps.mcpserver.models.OperationsToolCall`, the audit
trail, whether or not it fails,
- is never cached: its data changes from minute to minute,
- only reads.
A tool's result that contains text from the logs, or from users, starts with
:data:`UNTRUSTED_DATA_NOTICE`: a user can put text into a log line, e.g. with a prompt, so the
LLM must read it as data, never as instructions.
.. note::
**Experimental.** The MCPServer was designed and coded by Claude Code (Anthropic's
Claude Opus 5.5), with Lawrence McDaniel as co-author. It is experimental, and will
be documented.
